The first International Symposium on Flow Measurement in Cerebrovascular Surgery was held immediately prior to the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Meeting in Chicago.
A broad and internationally renowned faculty presented their experiences with flow measurement in decision making for aneurysms, EC-IC bypass, endovascular revascularization and arteriovenous malformations. This was an inaugural event to invite interest in the formation of a new International Society for Quantitative Neuovascular Medicine.

The Journal received over 600 entries for this year’s contest. NOVA, which helps doctors decide whether surgery or drug therapy is the best treatment for patients at risk of stroke, was named one of the top 10 innovations of 2006 in the medical device category.
